I am a 7 year old girl. I live in a
little town near Varna. I have two sisters of my age (we are triplets)
and an elder sister. I walk with difficulty because I have cerebral
palsy. At the age of one my parents took me to the Karin Dom centre for
the first time. I have been going to Karin Dom ever since. The
therapists and teachers have been helping me and teaching me how to
cope with things that are difficult for me to do.
This is me being picked up by the Karin Dom minibus in the morning.
My mum comes with me so that we can both learn how to do things together.
This is me getting my timetable for the day.
Here I am in the Montessori
group where I choose my own activities. I am learning about how to fit
the right size cylinder into the right size space.
Every day one of us children helps serve breakfast. Today is my turn.
I love to draw and feel like a real artist.
Here I am preparing for
physiotherapy. It has helped me learn to dress and undress on my own
and even to put on my shoes and take them off again.
Here I am with my physiotherapist.
While playing with my teacher, the physiotherapist helps me stand straight on both legs.
A special education teacher teaches
me write letters and numbers. It is much easier when my notebook does
not slip, when there is wider space between lines and I have a special
pencil. The special table and chair help me sit comfortably.
My speech therapist and I play again – who can blow out the candle first.
My friends and I learn how to communicate with eyes, gestures, words.
Here I am going to school with my sisters … where I like art class most of all.
